This week I am celebrating the end of the first semester of my 5th year of teaching art full time at a public high school. I'm a big believer in a strong public school system that includes art education- In my opinion it is the foundation of a healthy democracy. I feel so lucky to have the job I do- but I do struggle with keeping my own art practice going and staying balanced (as everyone does) I wrote a personal essay of my personal reflections of juggling teaching with art making in this month's issue of Venison Magazine
Below: A photo of the whiteboard for Draw/Paint I on Halloween. We did geture drawings with charcoal from scenes of Nosferatu.

Hello Clare, I was delighted to read your article, as I've been for years mulling over the dilemma of design teacher / experimental filmmaker and the balance to be found... thank you for sharing your ideas and giving me hope that there is a balance to be found!
